I’m not giving up

One night last summer Kent and I decided to go see Batman Begins. Heard decent reviews, Michael Caine was Alfred. It even had ninjas. We were in. Sat down with popcorn and cherry Coke. 10 minutes till the end the power goes out. We were offered 2 free tickets so we took them and later on went to see some movie that I can’t remember.

Fast forward to this summer and Batman is on HBO. Great, I can watch it on my own time. Friday night I get through almost half of the movie before I fall asleep. Last night Kent and I got through 32 minutes (I checked) before we both fell asleep. This morning I start at minute 33 and get to minute 42 before the phone begins to ring. It’s not a boring movie. I enjoy what I’ve seen immensely. The stars are not aligned.
I’m not giving up. If I can ever wrestle the remote away from Beth and Kent (who are watching ‘Mother May I Sleep with Danger’)* I’m sitting on the couch, with the phone ringers off and watching the movie to the end.

* When Beth and Kent get together they watch Lifetime made-for-tv movies. I forgot about this tendency. Ew… Tori Spelling is in it.

The First Raquetball Game

Dave crapped out so Kent and I went to play raquetball. Amazingly, Kent didn’t get hurt and the little raquetball doesn’t hurt as much as you think it would when it hits you.

At first, I was a bit wary of this ball flying about and you’re never really sure where it’s going to land… and the court echos every sound so Kent and I spent the first half hour saying, ‘What did you say?”. But in the end, I wasn’t that bad.

We kept score a bit (and I believe that Kent is beginning to adopt Dave’s way of giving my point to himself, but you just have to keep score as well)… and when they LIE TO YOU say, “I can’t hear you, what did you say?” Then they get embarrassed about LYING TO YOU and correct themselves.

All in all, a good first try. Different from tennis but I’m pretty good at hitting the ball with accuracy. I gave about 85% considering the majority of the game I was swinging my head around making sure I didn’t get hit with the raquet or the ball.
See you on the court Dave. I’m bringing a score pad.

Happy News.

Beth’s and my cousin, Eileen, has been accepted at Loyola and Tulane (Loyola gave her a fantastic scholarship and we’re waiting to hear from Tulane).  Eileen and her mom, our Aunt Chris, are heading over to New Orleans from Ormond Beach, Florida at the end of March to see the city and tour the schools.  Congratulations to Eileen!!!

System Would Let Gamblers Bet and Bet and Bet on Game
By PETER SANDERS

LAS VEGAS — Gamblers watching an Indianapolis Colts game here may have a hunch that, on the next play, star quarterback Peyton Manning will throw a long bomb to receiver Marvin Harrison for a touchdown. But right now there is nothing they can do about it — casino sports books don’t accept bets on individual plays.

That may be about to change. Boosted by improved technology that makes it easier to take bets on every play in a sporting event — rather than just the outcome — gambling-technology companies are on the brink of launching new products they hope will entice gamblers at casinos to keep wagering throughout hours-long games.
