Site is borked

I tried to upgrade my account with my webhost to get more server space and they canceled me instead. They are in the process of restoring my site now. It looks like I will lose about two weeks worth of content based on what it looks like right now.

Needless to say, I’m a little angry that I tried to pay them MORE money, and ended up losing my site. I hope I don’t have to take my business elsewhere, because up until now, hostgator has been a great webhost.

Update:

After being promised on Friday that the site could be restored, now they tell me that they cannot. HostGator is not doing right by me.

  1. Sorry to hear it, I was looking forward to using that discussion of music as a reference.

  2. hopefully this post will go away, they’ve assured me that they will be able to restore everything to how it was at 10:00am this morning.

the worst part is that i’ve lost all my email access, not to mention yesterday’s rousing debate.

  3. It is officially lost.

If you kept the comment emails that you get when you write a post, I can recreate the comments, but I don’t know how to recreate the actual posts… Nuts.

Also, I think you are going to have to register again, Mr. Valentine.

I still have no email, though.

  4. Well, well, well. It looks like I was jumping the gun when I said Kent was the M.F. man and elbuzzard was the real deal. In reality, Kent is the F.F. woman, and elbuzzard is a raw deal! Sure, a couple days after Kent posted a link to my website I got more hits in one day than ever, but the following the following week saw my hits flatline. Not only did I have my first zero hits day, I had two zero hits days that week. I could find fault in myself with this, like maybe it’s because I haven’t jammed up everyones myspace comments with obnoxious postcards for over a month, or maybe my comic strips lack humor like Brent Koster said, but this will be much easier if I blame this on Kent. After all, he BORKED his website. Who know what else he’s been BORKING!?

  5. i did not say they lacked humor. stop slandering me. i don’t remember what i said, but I know I would not say that. i really like them.

  6. jimmyvalentine: No kidding. No one is more upset about this than me. The link is back on the links page. I find your comics extremely funny, and I am appalled that Brent would say that. He’s been saying a lot of mean things lately. Not two weeks ago, he called me a hippie. The next week, he tried to tell me that I was stupid for not liking Quentin Taratino’s violence porn movies. Then he made inappropriate remarks about my love of a certain NFL quarterback.

    mrunstoppable: Shame on you.

  7. http://www.rebeccahavemeyer.com is now resolving, but the others do not.

Apparently asking for ALL subdomains to be restored is not good, I have to ask for each one separately. It seems I have to do the work to find the errors that THEY caused, rather than them taking responsibility for their error and fixing it themselves.

  8. I’ve never had problems with my New Orleans based server, nicdirect.com, (except after Katrina). Perhaps you should switch and give the locals some business.

  9. I would love to use a NOLA host. I will look into them, but from their page, they do not offer a plan suitable for me. I’ll contact them anyway. I will als check with some NOLA bloggers and see if they have recommendations.

  10. All subdomains are back.

FTP accounts are now functional again.

Emails are still a problem on subdomains though.
